To research any technology you need access to the research laboratory.
To access it you will have to pay in resources such as crystal. In the MVP you can research the following branches:
Asteroid Accuracy: each upgrade will reduce the probability of your planet being hit by an asteroid by 1%.
Terraforming: each planet has a certain amount of slots, each upgrade of a building or facility will consume 1 slot. Once the planet is full, you will not be able to upgrade any more. You can buy a new planet or make use of Terraforming, which you can access in the research lab. With each Terraforming upgrade, you will receive 1 extra slot on your planet.
Laser Technology: this is a powerful technology that needs to be researched to unlock any laser related weapon or defense, for the moment it unlocks the Laser Defense building. At a later stage, as PVP, this will be key to spacecraft technology.
